Protein seems to be the least understood nutrient as far as tortoises are concerned. This leads to many misconceptions.

It is really not known with any certainty that protein is the actual culprit, because it is not known how much protein is required and how that protein is processed in tortoises.

When we think of protein in tortoise nutrient we really do not know what "too much" is.
